At Trovato Family Dentistry, we offer full dental implant services, from initial consultation through your surgery and the insertion of your new teeth, right in the comfort of our Kearny, NJ, office. Implants can be used to secure a single tooth, multiple teeth, or all of your teeth. They can be used to secure an existing denture, or replace that denture with something that is not removable. With proper care, implants have the potential to last a lifetime!
Many people opt for dental implants when they want to replace missing or damaged teeth instead of relying on dentures or bridgework that might not fit well or can slip out of place. Dental implants are a solid option if you suffer from a lack of natural teeth roots that don’t allow building dentures or bridgework to replace teeth. Unlike crowns and bridges, implants do not decay like a natural tooth root.
The major benefit of implants is solid support for your new teeth — a process that requires the bone to heal tightly around the implant. We use a medical-grade titanium implant fixture that will fuse to your existing jawbone providing a durable anchor point. Then we install a semi-permanent abutment (can be removed in our office if needed) that connects to the implant fixture and holds the actual tooth or teeth. Finally, the crown is installed. This is the part of the tooth that gets seen by people when you smile or open your mouth wide. It’s normally made from porcelain or zirconium and matched as closely as possible to your natural teeth.
Careful planning goes into each and every case before your teeth are ever touched, but once we are ready to move forward, you can walk in in the morning, and walk out in the afternoon with a brand new smile. A smile that is not removable! A smile to be proud of! A smile you can enjoy your favorite foods with! A smile that is designed to be easy to maintain, easy to keep clean! No more worrying about teeth slipping down, denture breath, or painful sore spots!
Need another reason? Dental implants don’t require removing other nearby teeth, as a tooth-supported bridge would. This means your long-term oral health will be improved as individual implants (and even full-bridge replacements) can allow easier access between teeth, making it easier to maintain oral hygiene.
Most patients choose to do their work while under anesthesia, so you simply “sleep” through the dental work, and wake up with your beautiful new smile!
Modern dental implants have been used successfully for over 30 years. They are the strongest devices available to support replacement teeth – and even better, they allow these new teeth to feel, look and function naturally.
According to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), more than 3 million people in the U.S. already have dental implants, and the number is growing by more than half a million people each year.
AAID also notes “leaving empty spaces in your mouth after losing one or more teeth can lead to health issues such as jawbone deterioration. Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that actually helps stimulate bone growth and prevent bone loss. Getting dental implants as soon as possible after losing a tooth helps prevent bone loss at the site. Also, dental implants don’t require grinding down adjacent teeth to anchor bridges or attach partial dentures.”
